Our 2010 Wish List

Without further ado, here is our official 2010 list of things to accomplish.  Oh, of course, it’s not totally official because we’ll probably think of something else to add in the next few days, but it’s official for now!

Our 2010 Wish List

The Negotiator wants to finish reading all of “The M*gic Tree House” books.
Build a playstructure.
Go to Disneyland.
Ride a horse & see the bats at our friend’s house in the country.
Raise baby chicks.
Go camping in the mountains.
Mini-Me wants to go to church camp for the first time.
The Talker wants to go on a mission trip with Mom & Dad to help orphans.
More playdates with friends.
Build a treehouse or fort.
Paint the upstairs.
Exercise more.
Collect more shoes for Haiti.
Go to a museum (specifically not an art museum).
Daughter of Purpose wants to grow more flowers.
Find a way to help the poor in our own community.
Daughter of Purpose wants to adopt another child (“Like me!”, she says.)
Grow an organic garden in the summer AND the winter.

There you have it.  We’ll see how we do!  Hope this inspires you to come up with your own list.

Tomorrow is my 15 year anniversary so I think I’ll share with you about some of my personal goals for 2010 in regards to The Driver.  This should be fun… 🙂

Great goals! I hope we get to be a part of some of them. 😉

More shoes for Haiti, eh? And more adoption too!

And I concur with Allison. The Tech Museum is a great choice for you kids, especially The Talker & Negotiator.

Thanks for inspiring the rest of us. I love that your children were included in this exercise.

Thanks for the idea, Allison. The Negotiator specified a non-art museum because yesterday he asked me if there are any types of museums that are not art. I think I’ve taken him to too many so he’s forgotten that other types exist! I’ll remind him that we did go to the Exploratorium–that counts!

Love it… I can practically hear the kids getting excited about each idea they come up with! I think my favs were probably the raising baby chicks, going on a mission trip and the going to a museum that is not an art museum (bad experience?!) We need another Exploratorium trip huh!
You’ve inspired me to make a similiar “list” for this year with the kids… THANKS 🙂

Well, you weren’t soliciting help, but I can help with one of your list items. There is a museum in San Jose that I have always taken my 6th graders to. It is a hands-on science museum with a dome IMAX theatre. It’s called The Tech Museum. Your kids would love it. They offer discounts for school field trips and if you write them a letter sometimes you can even get a scholarship to go for free. http://www.thetech.org/education/
They also offer free workshops for teachers and lesson plans designed around the museum exhibits. Even my worst students loved it . . .
