My friend and I have challenged each other to live out of our pantry until November 1. She has explained it well on her blog. Why repeat her well written words? You can read it there. However, you might wonder why I’d bother to post it on Mommy Map. What does that have to do with parenting wisdom? Well, one of the posts I had in mind to write next week was about how to Menu Plan. Even with a family of 7, I only go grocery shopping every 2 weeks. I hate shopping and doing it this way keeps me accountable to only buying what we need for the upcoming weeks instead of shopping off the top of my head and to fill my pantry. I do have to confess though, I stop in at the local Farmer’s Market every Saturday to buy our raw milk and organic produce. Other than that, I do not darken the doors of a grocery store–and I certainly will not again until after November 1 (I might even see if I can go longer than that).
With that in mind, we both will be purchasing milk this weekend. Other than that, not a thing will be purchased. I will keep you posted this next week as to what we scrounge up to eat each day. I hope you will join our challenge because what Mama doesn’t need to save money and learn how to be a wise steward of what God has given to her?
For the record, I have not been in a grocery store since Sunday, October 18, 2009.
