Wearing the Crown of the Navigator

“Her children will rise up and call her blessed.” – Proverbs 31:28a

Woo hoo! I have reached the moment that every mother longs for. Today, out of nowhere, my 7 year-old son came to me and said, “Mommy, I just wanted to tell you that I think you are the best mommy in the whole world.” Can you believe that? I have waited for, well, 7 years to hear that. It’s like reaching the pinnacle of my mommy career to hear that. Countless hours I have spent wiping bottoms, washing clothes, picking up toys, preparing food that no one likes, carrying spit-up food around in my hand, gone without sleep, given up on ever eating hot food again, been barfed on, listened to what seems like endless whining, said the word “no” more times than I can count, found myself humming the songs to the Wiggles, thought about changing my name–anything but “Mom” will do, and melted down in tears with all of my children crying too. Trust me with 4 under 4 at one point, I have been there and done that. In fact, I dare say that I am still there and doing that! I have heard it said that “Life doesn’t get easier, it just gets different.” I can vouch for the truth of that statement, but today I am happy to just forget about the tough stuff of motherhood and to relish in the small, quiet voice of my son because it is his voice that says a million things with one small statement.

    Friend!

I love it! How cute is he? I have always known you are a great mom, however it has so much more meaning when they start to notice. Good job!!

Great blog today! My favorite part…”but today I am happy to just forget about the tough stuff of motherhood and to relish in the small, quiet voice of my son because it is his voice that says a million things with one small statement.”

    That was really good!
